Bears-Cowboys Recap

After two tough losses, the Chicago Bears earned their first win of the 2025 season in dominating fashion, defeating the Dallas Cowboys 31–14.

Caleb Williams had an outstanding performance as he threw for 298 yards and four touchdowns. The defense really bounced back after giving up 52 points to the Lions last week. The defense brought their A game, forcing four turnovers to secure head coach Ben Johnson’s first career victory.

For Dallas, the game looked promising for them as they did come back to tie it up at 14 in the 2nd quarter, but unraveled into a mistake-filled finish. Unfortunately, their best wide receiver, CeeDee Lamb, had to leave the game with a high ankle sprain.

Let’s get into the recap:

Season Going Forward

The Bears finally get their first victory of the year. This should give them some confidence and validate that their offense can be dangerous under Ben Johnson. If they continue to consistently put scoring drives together, protect Caleb Williams, take less penalties, and play like this on the defensive side of the ball, they could play competitive football against anybody in the league. The running game is a major concern moving forward and needs to be addressed.

For Dallas, this loss highlights many vulnerabilities in their game: turnovers, lack of balance in both the pass and rush game, and major holes in their defense. Also, with the ankle injury for CeeDee Lamb (out 3-4 weeks), Dallas will need to find other options to spread the ball around . The Cowboys need to be more balanced on offense, but most of their concerns moving forward are on the defensive side of the ball.

Overall, solid game for the Bears. As a Bears fan, I was finally able to enjoy a Sunday watching my football team. If they could play like this consistently, the rest of the season will be a fun time and will be competitive the rest of the year. I want to see more consistency on both sides of the ball, less penalties, and an improvement in the run game. This win was even sweeter as the Bears picked the Dallas defense apart, the Matt Eberflus (Former Bears Head Coach) led Cowboys defense. Great to see!

Also, free hot dogs at The Wieners Circle after Caleb Williams’ 4 TD game!

Bears take on the Raiders next week, and I’m confident that the Bears will beat them and get to 2-2.
